Bone Grafting

What is a bone graft?

A bone graft is used to replace missing or damaged bone. In addition to replacing bone, this treatment can also be used to effectively promote new bone growth to further improve the density and stability of the bone in that area. There are several types of bone grafts available; please feel free to visit our page About Bone Grafting for more information on the kinds of bone grafting we offer at Cannon Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Do I need a bone graft?

Dr. Daniel Cannon may recommend a bone graft if you have experienced tooth loss and are interested in replacing your missing teeth with dental implants. When a tooth is removed or lost, the jawbone at that site begins to deteriorate in a process known as resorption. This often results in poor quality and quantity of bone at the location of the missing tooth, which makes successful implant placement difficult or even impossible. To place a dental implant, our oral surgeon may suggest a bone graft in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to improve the quality and density of the jawbone.
