What Is a Sinus Lift?

Posted .

At our oral and maxillofacial surgical practice, Dr. Daniel Cannon and our team are pleased to offer sinus lifts for our patients in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A sinus lift is performed if there is a loss of bone in your upper jaw. For example, if the height of the bone is not the right size, or if your sinuses are too close together. This treatment is performed by our surgeon, adding bone to your upper jaw where the molars and premolars sit in your mouth.

The goal is to grow bone in the floor of the maxillary sinus (an empty, air-filled space behind your cheeks on top of the upper teeth). Above your upper jawbone, your maxillary sinuses sit on either side of your nose. If you have lost a tooth from your upper jaw area, it is possible that there is a lack of bone structure in the sinus area to place a dental implant with a lift. With the lift, our surgeon can add bone-grafting material where the sinus was to build up the bone structure, to allow successful placement of dental implants to replace missing teeth.

Not only does our team perform sinus lifts for our patients, but we have the experience to help you heal quickly after the surgery, as well as experience the surgery comfortably. To determine if you may benefit from a sinus lift, please call 918-743-1351 today and schedule a consultation with Dr. Daniel Cannon in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
